Historie
On the left, perhaps you can park your car for a while opposite the pumping station building. A large pumping station was built here in two years from 1918, pumping 100,000 ha of land in Groningen and Drenthe. Together with the famous Wouda pumping station in Friesland, it is the largest pumping station in Europe. It was the first pumping station in the Netherlands to be electrically powered, hence its name 'Electra'.
